I want my granddaughter’s growing up believing that anything is possible for women. If they want to stay home (btw one of the hardest jobs on earth!) Or if they want to be President they can!
Can we stop for a moment on the division and Celebrate a important time in History.
I want any American to know that anything is possible!
Women did not have the right to vote until 1920!
Our first President George Washington from 1788-1797 -Unaffiliated
The next President John Adam’s 1792-1801 – Federalist
The next 4 president’s
- Thomas Jefferson 1801 -1809
- James Madison 1809-1817 Where all Democratic-Republican
- James Monroe 1817-1825
- John Quincy Adams 1825 -1829
It is at this time we see party’s split and see parties of Democratic, and Whig (which was 1 of the 2 major parties in this time.)
In 1861 With the Presidency of Abraham Lincoln we have our 1st Republican President.
In 1872 Susan B. Anthony and 14 other women voted even though women did not receive the right to vote for 49 more years. They were arrested. Susan was tried and convicted for voting illegally and fined $100.00. She refused to pay the fine.
1896 Women of Color formed the National Association of Colored women. This playing a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement.
1909 – The woman Suffrage party is founded and serves as a gateway for women to get involved in politics. Although women of color played a pivotal role in this movement, they also received discrimination within the party.
1919 The nineteenth Amendment is sent to be signed for women the right to vote.
It was not until 1920 that women were able to vote but had the restriction to only “white women.”
1924- Native American women earn the right to vote. – some states still blocked them.
1943 – Chinese women were added to those women able to vote, but like other minorities there were still many loops to jump through and getting to cast a vote.
1965 – President Lyndon Johnson signs the Voting Rights Act into law, prohibiting voting discrimination based on “race, color, or national origin. This allowing Black and Latinx women to Vote. – Although even today we can find discrimination and nonwhite citizens being deprived of a right to vote.
I share this with a huge thank you to all those who come before us, who did not understand the impact they would have on today.
As of January 20, 2021, we not only have the dream to vote as women, but we have the dream that “WE”, “our mother’s, daughters, Granddaughter’s, Sister’s, Nieces, cousins and friends” can be President!
The color of our skin and our Gender no longer a barrier as we swore in Kamala Harris to be the first. The first Woman, the first African American woman, the first Indian American and the first Asian American. To be Vice President.
Congratulations to all the little girls’ that dare to dream Big! Congratulations to Kamala Haris.
Congratulations America we finally are starting to look more like our promise of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” to all!
I do not care what side you are. If you did or did not vote for our current office.
If you know a female, your actions today when a woman is in office sends a message to your loved ones. Our Children are watching can we celebrate this huge accomplishment.
May God Bless us All beyond our greatest Prayer’s, Hope’s and Dreams.
